Transformer Service

Being a piece of electrical equipment with no or very few moving parts, transformer service is still essential, and not just for oil-filled transformers. Checking turns ratios, insulators, CTs, connections, over-temperature alarms, and operating measurables are important for dry type transformers, in addition to the battery of additional tests that should be performed on oil-filled units.

The importance of transformer service has never been as important as it is today. Transformer manufacturing is booked in many cases over a year, making replacement a difficult task to say the least.
