American Electric Power (AEP) procured an Emerson Ovation distributed control system (DCS) to replace the existing controls at their Pirkey Generating Station in Hallsville, TX. That contract included DCS controls and HMI hardware, configuration of the system, and field commissioning. ECA won a competitively bid contract to remove the existing DCS and install the replacement. ECA also provided checkout and startup support. At the same time as the DCS replacement, ECA also replaced many motorized control drives, instruments, and valve positioners; mechanical tubing and instrument stand work was subcontracted by ECA to a long-time mechanical construction partner.
